A theatre project from emerging artists working with Michael Pinchbeck and Julian Hughes along with New Perspectives. Cabin Fever member Ed Roberts was a key writer/performer and along with 13 other emerging artists from across the East Midlands created a new theatre piece inspired by the John Berger book, A Fortunate Man: The Story of a Country Doctor. In A Fortunate Man writer John Berger and photographer Jean Mohr document the work of John Sassall, an English country doctor. In its 50th anniversary year we want to explore the parallels between the original book and the NHS today. By pairing visual artists (i.e. photographers, painters, filmmakers etc.) with writers/devisers/performers the project sets out to explore the NHS today, spending time in doctor's surgeries. Directed by Michael Pinchbeck with collaborator photographer Julian Hughes.
